On Sept. 23, 2017, Linda Gail Silas, 66, of Campti victoriously earned her crown as our Lord Jesus Christ welcomed her home into his glory.
She was met at Heaven’s gate by her grandson Larry W. Cole, who led her to be reunited with her beloved family who had gone before her, mother, Susie Lay; infant sister, Lora Dale Johnson; and brothers, Dale Delacerda and Jimmy “Peace” Johnson.
As Linda joyously celebrates her new life, she awaits the reunion with those she leaves behind, her best friend, partner-in-crime and prince of 52 years, Jesse J. Silas Sr., who loved and cared for her, as she is the most precious thing in his life; daughter, Angela M. Cole (Larry) of Campti; son, Jesse J. “Bubba” Silas Jr. (MaiAnh) of Texarkana, Texas; daughter, Jessica Carlotta Hyde (Gary) of Winnfield; daughter, Amy Gail Silas (Duane) of Campti; grandchildren, Jason S. Ivey Jr., Ashley R. Guillory (David), Jesse J. “Joey” Silas III, Christopher L. Hyde (Jennifer), Joshua M. Silas, Trevor D. Hyde (Amber), Jacob S. Ivey, James S. Ivey, Chloe E. Allen (Michael), Jonah M. Silas, Jordan I. Silas, Katie M. Cole and Jadyn L. Silas; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Mia, Adrik, Oliver, Noah, Mason, Malachi, Gunner, Natalie, Bentleigh, Jocelyn and Henry; her one special sister, Ruth Matheny (Sammy) of Sumrall, Miss., with whom she shared every special moment of her days; brother, Ernie Culver (Gayle) of Coushatta; sisters, Patricia Bounds of Petal, Miss., Doris Harrison (Jim) of Bossier City and Carol Johnson (Bill) of Haughton.
All who knew Linda, also knew that she loved her daily trips to Wal-Mart, her crawfish boils and sitting on her front porch with a cup of coffee to smell her sweet olives while watching the hummingbirds play. She frequently enjoyed her chats with long-time friend and neighbor, Cloretha Williams, and adopted daughter Susan Yocum and adored every minute she shared with her baby, Precious.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Services for Linda Gail Silas will be Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home and will be officiated by Bro. Hayword Hossler. Burial will follow at Fern Cemetery, Natchitoches.
Those honored to be pallbearers to lay her to rest are her grandsons, Jason S. Ivey Jr., Jesse J. “Joey” Silas III, Christopher L. Hyde, Trevor D. Hyde, Jacob S. Ivey and James S. Ivey. Honorary pallbearers will be her special adopted grandsons, Cahlill Bush and Taylor Murphy.
