A service to celebrate the life of MSgt. (Ret.) Robert Brice Middleton Jr., USAF Reserve, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, Natchitoches. Nephew Rick Middleton will officiate, with burial to follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora. The family will hold visitation from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Blanchard St.-Denis Funeral Home.
Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha LaVerne (Ryland) Middleton; son, Robert B. Middleton and wife Daina of Alta, Wy.; daughter, Lynne (Middleton) Sepulvado and husband Joe of Leavenworth, Kan.; grandchildren, Maj. Walter J. Sepulvado Jr. (Joey), Stacy L. (Sepulvado) Kent of Lansing, Kan., Brett Middleton of Virginia Beach, Va., Mesa (Middleton) Stevens and Kenyon Middleton of Alta, Idaho; and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ella (Booty) Middleton; brothers, Elton and Kenneth Middleton; and sister, Claudine (Middleton) LaCaze.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Maj. Joey Sepulvado, Brett Middleton, David Sparks, 1LT Daniel Kent, Hugh Gentry, Joe Sepulvado, and honorary pallbearer, Harold Oldham.
The family extends sincerest thanks to all caregivers, friends, and family for their selfless acts of kindness and support.
Robert was born July 26, 1929, to Robert B. and Ella (Booty) Middleton in Marthaville. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force from 1951-57, including a two-year tour of duty in the Korean War. He then worked for the Louisiana Department of Labor until 1984 while continuing to serve in the U.S. Air Force Reserve until 1989, totaling nearly 39 years of military service. Robert was a longtime resident of Natchitoches before moving to Leavenworth, Kan., in 1998 to be near family. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Natchitoches and then Calvary Baptist in Leavenworth.
Robert passed away Sept. 22, 2017, at his daughter’s home surrounded by people who loved him. He was 88 years old. —
