The Natchitoches Central Chiefs got off to a great start Friday night, Sept. 22, after scoring a go- ahead touchdown on the second play of the night on a 45 yard run up the middle by Tailback Trey Solitaire.

The run put the Chiefs up 7-0 and there was no other scoring until 18 seconds left in the first quarter. That’s when with Chris Grant received a tunnel screen pass for 35- yards to put the Dragons on the score board.

The Chiefs blocked the extra point attempt with the Chiefs 7 and the Dragons 6. DeRidder scored again and made a 2-point conversion with 1:33 seconds left on the clock at the end of the first half pushing the Dragons ahead 14 – 7.

DeRidder would come out in the second half and take the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and extra point making the score 21-7. That was the final score since neither team was able to score again.

After the game Natchitoches Central Coach Tommy Moore said, “ This game was a take of two halves. We didn’t play or tackle well. During the second half I thought we could line up and run the ball but it didn’t happen.” but next week we will play a lot harder”!
