Cane River Commissary is located on Hwy. 119 next to the Lambre Gin. The restaurant opened Saturday, Sept. 23. They serve a variety of delicious food. The chef is Drew Jenkins. They also serve Cane River meat pies and pizza. They have a bar and are open Tuesday through Friday from 2-11 p.m. and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. They are closed Monday. Ricky and Sylvia LaCour are the owners. Lexi Sarpy celebrated her fourth birthday Saturday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. at the home of her parents, Keith and Angela Sarpy. Lexi is the granddaughter of Simon III and Frances Sarpy. She attends pre-school. Belated congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy White on their marriage, Aug. 12, 2017. The couple exchanged vows at 5 p.m. at Flora Community Center. A reception followed.

\National Night Out will be Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 6:30-8 p.m. at Roque Brothers pecan shed on Hwy. 484. Join your neighbors there. St. Augustine Church Fair will be Oct. 13-15 at the church on Hwy. 484. Friday starts with a fish fry at 6 p.m. followed by a dance featuring DJ Rob Reel. Saturday, events will be from 9 a.m.-11 p.m. and include Creole cuisine and festival foods, church tours, a family and youth bike ride at 10 a.m. Music will be by DJ Doc Couty and Butchie Wutchie. Sunday, it will continue from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Masses will be Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Jovina LeCoure celebrated his ninth birthday Saturday at the home of his father, John Paul LeCoure, with family and friends. His favorite gifts were a basketball goal and trampoline. Jovina is the grandson of Calvin and Lillian LeCoure.
