The Natchitoches Central Swim Team competed in their first meet of the season Saturday, Sept. 30 at the North Louisiana High School Swim Meet hosted by Centenary College at their Fitness Center Natatorium.This meet was attended by 18 regional high school swim teams including Alexandria Senior High, Caddo Magnet, Barbe, Ruston, Benton, Natchitoches Central, Southwood, Byrd, Parkway, Captain Shreve, Calvary Baptist, Loyola College Prep, West Monroe, Cedar Creek, Choudrant, Haughton, Neville and St. Mary’s.
Swimming their first high school meet and establishing base times were:
Derrick Anderson (Sophomore)– 200 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back Jaylon Braxton (Sophomore)– 50 Free, 100 Free Trey McDowell (Freshman)– 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back Jett Steadman (Freshman)– 50 Free, 100 Free Ben Walker (Junior – LSMSA) – 50 Free, 100 BreastAlyssa Broadway (Sophomore) swam the 200 Free with a drop of .45 seconds, the 50 Free with a drop of 1.17 seconds, and established a time in the 500 FreeSarah Green (Senior at LSMSA) swam the 200 Free, the 100 Free with a drop of 4.56 seconds, and the 100 Breast.LiZhang Matuschka (Senior at LSMSA) established a time in the 200 IM, swam the 100 Free and 100 Breast.Alex Moran (Sophomore) swam the 50 Free and 100 Back.Tyler Nichols (Junior) swam the 200 Free, the 50 Free with a drop time of .09 seconds, and the 100 Breast.Dane Steadman (Sophomore) swam the 50 Free, the 100 Free, and the 100 Breast.
The Men’s 400 Free Relay of Trey McDowell, Tyler Nichols, Alex Moran and Dane Steadman was the only race that scored points (6) with a 5th place finish.
Next up for the Chiefs is the Bulldog Aquatics 6th Annual Swim Meet in Ruston Oct. 14.
