The Lakeview Gators were unable to catch the Eagles Friday night for their first district game of the season.

Lakeview came out of the locker room fired up and anxious to win their first game of the season and it showed. The Gators forced the Eagles to punt on their first possession of the game. The Gators defense stopped the Eagles run attack early and often until fatigue started factoring in for the Gators.

With Lakeview basically playing iron man football the Eagles would be persistent, sticking to the run game and occasionally throwing the ball.

Dwaelon Shepherd went 8 for 14 with 116 passing yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Demondre Young had 61 rushing yards with 1 rushing touchdown and 91 receiving yards with 1 receiving touchdown.

The final score was Eagles 49, Gators 12.

The Gators will be looking for a victory next week, when they host the Red River Bulldogs for their homecoming October 13, at 7:00 p.m.
