A service to honor the life of Mrs. Vermel “Sis” Durr was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8 at Trinity Baptist Church in Natchitoches. Burial followed at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches.
Sis Durr, 86, and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, in Natchitoches. She was born Feb. 16, 1931, to Jules Desadier and Julia Pardee Desadier in Clarence.
She had the noblest of all professions; she was a homemaker for her family. Caring for her family’s needs was her top priority. A long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church, she loved fellowship with her church family. She will be dearly missed but we take comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in heaven today.
She is reunited in heaven with her parents, Jules and Julia Pardee Desadier; brothers, Ross Desadier, Leroy Desadier, Herchel Desadier, Thomas Desadier and her loving husband of 56 years, Boyd B. Durr.
She is survived by her sons, Kenny Durr and wife Sharon of Natchitoches, Greg Durr and wife Patricia of Fayette, Ala., and Mike Durr and wife Donna of Linville, La.; two daughters, Julia Duplessis and husband John of Prairieville and Shelia Todd and husband William of Lineville, La.; a stepson, Malcolm Durr and wife Liz of Natchitoches; and a brother, Raymond Desadier and wife Lee of Burkeville, Texas. She was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express a special thanks and gratitude to ICU department of Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and to LA Extended Care. A very special thanks to Dr. Chris Ingram for his professional and compassionate care.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Honor Guard served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Guy Snelling and Roger Ferrier.
