Mayor Lee Posey presented Magnet eighth grader Jordan Rachal with a Hometown Hero award Oct. 4. Rachal and his great-grandparents were en route to a NCHS football game Friday when his great-grandfather had a heart attack and passed out behind the wheel. As the van they were in headed toward a pole, Rachal jumped from the back seat and steered the van to safety. His great-grandfather is recovering in the hospital.
