A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. James Bernard Cannon will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville with the Rev. Christian Ogbonna serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Cloutierville Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 in the funeral home chapel.

James Bernard Cannon, 82, and a resident of Cloutierville, passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born June 11, 1935, in New Orleans.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Exchange Bank for 31 years and was the owner of Cannon’s Pecan and Fish Market in Cloutierville. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with family and friends. He will be dearly missed but always remembered as loving husband, daddy and paw-paw.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Rachal Cannon; children, Debra St. Andry and husband Allen, Jimmy Cannon and wife Sarah, Pam Jahnke and husband Dale, and Matt Cannon and wife Cecial; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Cannon. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cannon and Loney Hazel Vercher Cannon; and a son, Delbert Cannon.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are J.C. Coutee, Troy Cannon, Josh Henderson, Hunter Mulligan, Ricky Beaudion and Lonzo Harvey.

Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Cannon and Clay Henderson.
