The Natchitoches Chiefs went on the road Friday night to face district foe Pineville Rebels.
The Rebels started off strong scoring the first touchdown of the game with a 42-yard run in the first quarter with 8:18 left on the clock, but it would not be long before the Chiefs’ Trey Solitaire would answer with a touchdown run for 55 yards with 5:42 left on the clock in the first quarter. The extra point was good knotting the score at 7 all.
Going into the second quarter the Chiefs scored on a 26-yard field goal making the score 10-7. Pineville would score a touchdown on a running play in the second quarter with 6:50 left on the clock putting the Rebels back in front 14-10.
Both teams put together scoring drives once again during the second quarter. The Chiefs’ Jalen White completed a pass to Trey Solitaire for a 17-yard touchdown putting the Chiefs on top once again 17-14. The Rebels answered quickly on a passing touchdown for 29 yards in the air with 2:30 left in the half moving the Rebels in front 21-17. Pineville would get the ball back and score quickly with a touchdown run bringing the score to 28-17 in favor of the Rebels but the Chiefs would not back down. After getting the ball back, they drove the field and scored a touchdown on a 44-yard run by Jalen White. With the extra point making the score Chiefs 24 to Rebels 28 at the end of the first half. The third quarter would be a defensive battle for the most part until Jalen White broke open for a 21-yard touchdown run putting the Chiefs back on top with a score of 30-28. In the fourth quarter the Chiefs Trey Solitaire would make the offensive play of the game streaking down the field with a 72-yard run for a touchdown and extra point from Dylan Price making the score 37-28 with 11:49 left on the clock in the fourth quarter.
The Chiefs would make a tremendous defensive stop causing the Rebels to fumble the ball in their end zone, but the Rebels were able to recovery the ball resulting in NCHS getting a safety bringing the score to 39-28 Chiefs.
The Chiefs continued to pour it on, scoring another touchdown by Jalen White. The point after brought the score to 46-28 in favor of Natchitoches Central. Dylan Price would score the final three points for sealing the win for the Chiefs with a final score of 49-35.
Jalen White led the Chiefs in passing with 6 completions for 98 yards; Jalen White also led in rushing with 225 yards. Trey Solitaire had 8 carries for 144 yards and Josh Fortenberry contributed to the rushing game with 86 yards rushing. Richard Moody led in receiving with 1 reception for 43-yards, Tony Preylo had 3 receptions for 42-yards.
On defense Derilyn Flanagan led in tackles with 7, Devin Pier added 4 tackles and Zamauri Miller had 4 tackles and 2 interceptions.
The Chiefs look to duplicate this performance with their next game on the road against Ouachita Parish.
