Monday, Oct. 9

Bro. Bruce Mitchell preached at Old Bethel Sunday.  He filled in for Bro. Jay Jones who preached in Farmerville at a homecoming he once pastored.  Bro. Bruce preached on Exodus 3:1-10.  He talked about how God was preparing Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.  He shows us scriptures that showed that Moses had a temper.  Moses lived to be 120 years old.

He was 40 when he left Egypt and lived 40 years in the dessert tending his father-in-law’s sheep; then he spent 40 years leading the Israelites to the Promised Land.  Because of his temper, he didn’t get to go into the Promised Land.  Moses’ turning aside at the burning bush was the turning point in his life.  Christ is the answer.  For Christians, the best is yet to come. Nell Settle sang, “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow” while Nita Mitchell played the piano. Old Bethel Fall Family Night is Oct. 22 at 4 p.m.

Old Bethel will host Operation Christmas Child packing party Nov 11 at 10 a.m. Malcolm and I were driving on Texas Street Oct. 5 and saw a black car that had run into the Family Dollar Store.  There were police, firemen and a tow truck pulling the car out and putting it on the tow truck. Last week I talked packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  I named every one of the ladies who attended except Wanda St. Andre.

I looked at my photo to remember who was at each event and I didn’t see Wanda because she was the one taking the picture.  She takes the photo when there is no one else around to take them. Thank you, Wanda. Trinity senior luncheon is today, Thursday, at noon.  The guests are Lori Tate, Nancy Masters and Tammy Vallett.  Take a covered dish and join them.
