Sunday morning before day break, we heard the wind blowing and the rain drops falling as the temperature began to drop. We got ready for church with thanksgiving for the nice weather. I must say that God has a way of taking care of his own. We are thankful for the fall temperatures. We didn’t need the air conditions or fans. Pastor Taylor preached a sermon based on a message from Acts. It was about fasting and praying. As Christians, we are to fast, especially when we are in need, in danger, in trouble or worried. Fasting humbles the soul before God. We invite you to worship with us Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings beginning at 9 a.m. The St. Paul Baptist church of Lake End will have songs and praises program Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. Area choirs, soloists and praise teams are welcome and asked to render A and B selections. Come get your praise on. The Rev. Lonnie Bradley is pastor. The church is located on Hwy. 1 North at Lake End.
Hopefully, the fish are biting with the temperatures being so nice. And of course, I haven’t heard too much shooting. I guess the squirrels can take a break. Be careful when out and about. Remember the snakes are still looking for a place to bed for the winter. They are crawling. For those of you who will go trick-or-treating, be extra careful. Parents, don’t send children out alone. Personally, I don’t celebrate this holiday. But for those of you who do, remember there are some who do evil pranks. When you dress your children in costumes, go door-to-door with them.
Check their treats before they eat anything. It’s sad to say but let’s be real about this world we live in. You can never be too careful. Happy birthday to Emily Grigsby, Jeannie Remo, Tometha Brown, La’jinah White, Nicole Taylor, Ora Queen, ZaDer William and Kerri Williams. We wish you many more. Happy anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin White for seven years and Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Calhoun for 53 years. Our prayers to the sick and shut-ins. If I missed your birthday, it’s because you didn’t tell me. Call me at 352-4371 to share your good news.
