Men arrested for transporting narcotics

According to a Task Force official, on Oct. 17, Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force (NMJDTF) Criminal Patrol and Task Force Agents conducted a traffic stop of a silver 2005 Nissan Altima in the 1400 block of Texas Street. NMJDTF agents received information the vehicle was entering Natchitoches Parish and possibly transporting a substantial amount of illicit narcotics. The vehicle was operated by Alexis Lyman Nash, b/m, 29, of St. Maurice. Agents were familiar with Nash due to multiple complaints of Nash transporting large amounts of illicit narcotics into the parish.

The traffic stop yielded 5 ounces of suspected crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $14,000. Nash was accompanied by a passenger, Calvin Calhoun, b/m, 50, of Coushatta. Both were arrested in connection with the illicit narcotics. Following the narcotics investigation, Nash and Calhoun were booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center awaiting bond assignment.

Alexis Lyman Nash was charged with 1 count of Possession w/Intent to Distribute methamphetamine and 1 count Article 899 Probation Violation.

Calvin Calhoun was charged with 1 count of Possession w/Intent to Distribute methamphetamine and Active warrants through Natchitoches City Marshals Office for Failure to pay Fines.
