The Chiefs got off to a great start after receiving the opening kickoff of the game with a fierce rushing attack. During the Chiefs first possession, quarterback Jaylen White rushed for a 12-yard for a first down, but it would be negated on a holding call putting the Chiefs in a hole behind the chains. The drive ended in a punt from Josh Fortenberry. The Rebels fumbled the punt and the Chiefs recovered the ball on their 48-yard line. Once again, the drive stalled on a penalty that pushed the Chiefs behind the chains once again resulting in a punt. This led to the Rebels’ first scoring drive of the night making the score 7-0 in the first quarter with 4:31 left on the clock.

The Chiefs received the kickoff, but punted the ball away after a quick three and out. The Rebels then drove the field for a touchdown in eight plays for 57 yards. A successful 2-point conversion with 22 seconds left on the clock in the first quarter made the score 15-0 Rebels. The Chiefs had some high spots during the game with Shawn Robinson intercepting a pass from Rebels quarterback Slade Bolden.

The Chiefs were unable to capitalize on the turn over, so they punted to the Rebels. West Monroe scored an additional touchdown before halftime. Coming out of the half, West Monroe added five touchdowns to the board before Natchitoches Central’s Josh Fortenberry scored first, and only, touchdown of the game for the Chiefs. Final score was 53-7 Rebels. Jaylen White had a total 61 passing yards on 18 attempts.

Josh Fortenberry led in rushing wit 108 on 15 carries.
