The Northwestern State University Alumni Association and NSU Foundation surprised Natchitoches Mayor Lee Posey, right, with an official NSU class ring made specifically with the mayor’s graduation year and program of study in thanks for his support of the university. NSU President Dr. Chris Maggio made the surprise presentation during the Nov. 4 football game at Turpin Stadium. Posey graduated from NSU in 1974 and was sworn in as mayor of Natchitoches in 2012 after serving as a city councilman for 20 years. The Posey family has a four-generation history with Northwestern State and has made many lasting contributions to the university, the city of Natchitoches, public education in Louisiana, civic endeavors and youth philanthropies.
