Clarence residents and Mayor Tommy Evans participated in a groundbreaking ceremony Monday, Nov. 6 for the Dollar General Store located on Hwy 6 near the intersection of Highways 6 and 71. Construction began Oct. 30 for the 120 day project. Developers are Ratcliff Development and Ratcliff Construction Company will build the store and be owners of the 9,100 foot traditional store once it is completed. Opening is set for mid-to-late January. Evans said it will save citizens money and bring money into the village. “It will bring seven to eight jobs that will be hired from the community,” he said. “It’s a sign of growth for Clarence.” From left are Albert Gonzales, Rosa Grayson, Betty Grayson, Joyce Grayson holding Ayden Hardison, Richard Williams, Angela Williams and Jennifer Peace.
