Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are due Nov. 11 at the church. It’s so much fun shopping for the children who don’t get much for Christmas. Briarwood Baptist has collected as many as 80 in the past. Saline High School will host breakfast for veterans Thursday, Nov. 9 at 9 a.m. Veterans who want to attend should RSVP by calling (318)576-3215. Those in need of prayer are Jan Speir, Margie Dobson, Glennie Taylor, Shane Hawkins, Jeannie Dennis, Ross England, Ralph Mason and Rita Fenn. There are many, many more who I have not listed but if you know someone in need of a call or visit, take time to do so. The Fall Festival at Briarwood Baptist was great.
The rain and wind held off until the dinner and games were over. The children had a great time. Eight women from the Council on Aging in Saline went to Monroe. The Bienville Council on Aging sent two drivers to take us to the Coca Cola Museum. Then we went to the Bible Home and toured it. We learned how the Coca Cola business got started and who founded it. There was an old Model T truck they used to deliver it to the stores. The home belonged to one of the relatives of the founders. The museum next door had bibles and pictures of belongings the family acquired during their trips. After the tour, we had lunch at Cracker Barrel in Monroe. We really enjoyed the trip and thanks to the Council of Aging for all they did for us. Thanksgiving Day will be Nov. 23.
Veterans Day will be Nov. 11. Hope you have started shopping because Christmas will be here before we know it.
