The ladies of the St. Denis Garden Club have bonded over their shared love of flowers and floral arrangements since their founding 59 years ago. According to member Sandra McCullen, one of their sources of inspiration and assistance was Jeanne Guillory, who opened Jeanne’s Country Garden on Jefferson Street in 1974.
The club gathered in the shop Tuesday, Nov. 14 to present a plaque in memory and honor of Guillory. “She was a friend to all,” said McCullen. The plaque can be found in front of the building. St. Denis Garden Club members that attended the ceremony were McCullen, Sarah Katherine Ahrens, Cynthia Brown, Charlotte Cross, Kay Foshee, Gail Hines, Marian Keaton, Lanell Causey, Chrissy Henry, Juanita Murphy, Margie Pierson and Margaret Berry.
