NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Department of Military Science hosted an awards program Nov. 30 to recognize the accomplishments of outstanding cadets in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC).
Cadet Shaffer Kimball was recognized as a pending graduate of the program. He will earn his bachelor’s degree and receive his commission on Friday, Dec. 15 and will serve on active duty in the Infantry Corp. Having scored in the top 20 percent of cadets across the nation, Kimball was named a Distinguished Military Graduate for display qualities of leadership, character, academic achievement and exceptional aptitude for military services.
Cadets named to the President’s List for earning a 4.0 grade point average in the spring semester are Cadets Maria-Magdalena B. Torres, Markeyla N. Anderson and Tristan T. Thorman.
Those on the Dean’s List, who earned a 3.5-3.99 grade point average were Cadets Scott A. Stearns, Taylor A. Andrews, Savannah L. Carter, Michael R. Kingsley, Taimata A. Luafalemana, Dominitra L. Charles, John A. Ham, Karl J. Marzahl, Korey K. Rachal, Cade J. Feliciano and Christian D. Wood.

MS II (sophomore) cadets honored were Briyonna Collins, Recruiting Award; Larancion Magee, Field Training Exercise Award; Kendrick Shavers, Cadet Scholar Award; Mari-Magdalena Torres, Recruiting Award.
MS I (freshman) level cadets honored were Markeyla Anderson, Perfect Attendance Award; Eboni Phidd, Recruiting Award; Tristan Thorman, Field Training Exercise Award.
Ronicia Howze and Eboni Phidd earned Leadership Excellence Awards. Karl Marzahl earned the Commendation Medal; Adam Barnes earned the Cadet Achievement Medal and Brandon Homan earned the most improved score on the Army Physical Fitness Test.
Scholarship recipients were Shaffer Kimball, Malcolm Daisy Scholarship; Ethan Lewis, Teresa Cazales Scholarship, and Larancion Magee, James A. Noe Memorial Scholarship.
