Funeral services for Mr. Bobby R. “Bob” Shoalmire will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches with Bro. Clyde Miley officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18 at the funeral home.

Bob was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Converse. He enlisted in the Army and went on to serve three years. He owned and operated businesses in New Orleans and New Iberia. He worked in the offshore oilfield drilling industry for 41 years and also had cattle for years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.E. Shoalmire and Lilla Thompson Carroll; and two brothers, Ken Carroll and Philip Shoalmire.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Lynn Shoalmire of Natchitoches; two sons, Richard Shoalmire and wife Renee of New Iberia and Gregory Shoalmire and wife Fabiola of Houston; three grandsons, Ryan Shoalmire and wife Melissa, Rodney Shoalmire and wife Kali, all of New Iberia, and Francisco Salaverry of Dallas; two great-grandchildren, Ryder Joseph and Sophie Lynn Shoalmire of New Iberia; his special sister, Debbie Green and husband Russ of Natchez, Miss.; sisters-in-law, Alice Sistrunk of Shreveport, Jean Shaw of Natchitoches, and Rita Westmoreland of Magnolia, Miss.; as well as several nephews and cousins.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Richard Shoalmire, Gregory Shoalmire, Ryan Shoalmire, Rodney Shoalmire, Francisco Salaverry and John Sparks. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Wallace, Carol Desormeaux, Bobby Wilburn, Donald Peikert, Louis O’Quinn and Martin Zaunbrecher.

The Family wishes to thank Dr. Otis Barnum and Dr. Steven Kautz for their care and concern over the years as well as Harmony Home Health and Hospice of Natchitoches for their care and compassion during this difficult time, with a special thank you to Dominick Metoyer. Thank you to special friends, John and Elaine Sparks and their family for all their prayers, love, caring and support. Thank you to the Red River Cowboy Church for their friendship, love and prayers.
