Northwestern State University will hold its annual Spring Career Fair and Grad Fest Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Friedman Student Union.
Spring Career Fair is for juniors and seniors at NSU who want to explore career opportunities, full-time jobs, internships, graduate and professional schools, career paths and volunteer opportunities.
During Grad Fest, graduating seniors will have a chance to complete exit interviews with the Office of Financial Aid, order transcripts from the Registrar’s Office, take a graduation photo and order class rings, announcements and caps and gowns.
Participants will also be able to join the NSU Alumni Association, obtain information on graduate school and fill out a student survey to assist the university.
Participating organizations and businesses include Alliance Compressors, Baton Rouge City Police, Boise Cascade, Camp Fern, Cane River Creole National Historical Park, Crest Industries, LLC, CSRA, Inc., Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Jean Simpson Personnel, Louisiana Army National Guard, Louisiana Cat, Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana Workforce Commission, LSU and LSUS Online Graduate Degrees, Mississippi College School of Law, NSU Alternative Certification Programs, PhysAssist Scribes, Sabine Medical Center, Southern Scripts, LLC, Tyler Fredieu State Farm, USDA NRCS and U.S. Customs and Border Protections and Weyerhaeuser.
As part of the Career Fair, NSU alumna Virginia Monceret will speak at 11 a.m. in the President’s Room. A Mock Interview Workshop is at noon in the Cane River Room. Alumnus Wil Adams will speak at 1 p.m. in the President’s Room. At 2 p.m., a Resume Writing Workshop is scheduled in the Cane River Room.
Career Fair Prep Week will be held Jan. 29 – Feb. 2 in the President’s Room of the Student Union to help students brush up on skills that will help them prepare to meet prospective employers.
Building a Resume is set for Jan. 29 at noon, Jan. 30 at 4 p.m. and Feb. 2 at noon. Navigating Networking at Career Fair will be held Jan. 29 at 4 p.m., Jan. 31 at noon and Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. LinkedIn 101 is scheduled for Jan. 30 at noon, Jan. 31 at 4 p.m. and Feb. 1 at noon.
