NCHS Orchestra headed to Washington, D.C.; Will tour White House


The Natchitoches Central High School Orchestra under the direction of Syll-Young Olson, 34 members and 20 chaperones will travel to Washington D.C. to attend the Capitol Orchestra Festival to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center on President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 19. Additionally, they will spend time sightseeing which will include laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, touring the White House, the Air and Space museum, the African American Museum, the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial and more. On third row are Steven Wheat, Carlee Scott, Madison Lemoine, Anna Batson, Anna Robertson, Makayla Ferreyrous and Ronnie Leggett. On fourth row are Mitchell Herndon, Evan Korn, Al Harris, Melanie Nation, Dane Steadman, Emma Zachary, Zane Harper, Funke Adeleye, Jacob Miller, Colin Henson and James Stanfield. Not pictured are Lauren Mathews, Mali Simmons, Carlie Bumgardener, Cathrine Roquemore, Derick Anderson, Charia Ratliff and Alex Dollar. Olson confirmed Monday the group would be allowed to tour the White House.
