** update** Manhunt underway in south Natchitoches Parish for Rapides escapee

At 8:06 a.m., Thursday, March 1 Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Winn Parish K-9 Tracking Teams and other law enforcement agencies are actively searching for a Rapides Parish Escapee on La. Hwy 1 just north of the Rapides Parish Line near Merrell Road in Natchitoches Parish.

Deputies say the escapee, Brandon Wade Clark, 33, w/m, 5 feet, 8 inches, 178 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes was last seen wearing tan pants and a camouflage shirt. He was assigned to a work release detail in the Alexandria area when he apparently jumped a fence, stole a 2018 Ford F-250 then led State Police and Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Deputies on a pursuit into Natchitochs Parish near Merrell Road where he abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby woods.

Clark, who has ties to the Robeline-Marthaville areas, was reportedly being held in the Rapides Jail on narcotics charges. His previous charges also include theft, burglary, armed robbery, domestic abuse battery and aggravated battery.

Deputies ask that if you live in the area, lock your doors and vehicles and call 911 if you see the escapee.

La. Hwy 1 from La. Hwy 490 to the Rapides Parish Line is closed due to a heavy law enforcement presence in the area.

There is a heavy law enforcement presence near Merrell Road in south Natchitoches Parish
