District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington announced March 6 the sentencing in two felony cases.
Marlon Rachal II, 21, of Natchitoches pleaded guilty in November to one count of manslaughter. The guilty plea related to a March 5, 2016, incident in which Rachal II and his father, Marlon Rachal Sr., were involved in a verbal argument. The argument escalated into a physical altercation in which Rachal Sr. was shot and killed by Rachal II. On Feb. 28, 10th Judicial District Court Judge Desiree Dyess sentenced Rachal II to 30 years in prison at hard labor in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Amanda McClung.
In a report published in the Natchitoches Times in 2016, it stated Rachal Sr. suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. Rachal II was initially charged with second-degree murder.

In a separate case, Arthur Isaac, 21, of Natchitoches pleaded guilty in November to one count of armed robbery. The guilty plea related to a December 2015 robbery of Dollar General on University Parkway, Natchitoches. On Feb. 28, 10th Judicial District Court Judge Desiree Dyess sentenced Isaac to 13 years in prison at hard labor in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections. The case was prosecuted by ADA Amanda McClung.

In a report published in the Natchitoches Times Dec. 24, 2015, it stated the suspects robbed the store of $1,900 and two shoppers of their money and credit cards.
