On Sunday, April 8, 2018, Martha Christine Hayes Hampton, 87, of Natchitoches, lovingly referred to as Granny, went home to be with the Lord after a 16-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born Oct. 16, 1930, to Earnest and Bessie Hayes in Coushatta and was the oldest of five children.
She married Charles Larry “Buddy” Hampton June 1, 1948. They had three children, Charles Larry Hampton Jr., Susan Dianne Hampton Abraham and Richard Todd Hampton.
Funeral service for Martha Christine Hayes Hampton will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 12 at Blanchard-St. Denis Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Morrow and the Rev. John Elliot officiating. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m.
She worked for many years in the old East Natchitoches Branch Post Office and later at Hancock Fabrics, also in Natchitoches. On June 1, 1948, she married the love of her life and true cowboy Charles Larry “Buddy” Hampton of Natchitoches and raised three children.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Hampton; grandson, James Daniel Abraham Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Whitney Christine Behan. She is survived by son, Charles Hampton Jr. and wife Carol of Natchitoches; daughter, Susan Dianne Hampton Abraham and husband James of Cary, N.C.; son, Richard Todd Hampton and wife Christina of Natchitoches; grandchildren, Jennifer Hampton Behan, Elizabeth Hampton Johnston and husband Travis, Sandra Hampton Bergeron and husband Mark, Danny Abraham and wife Sheri, Chad Abraham and wife Tiffany, Brad Abraham and wife Sabrina, Christopher Hampton and Brooklyn Hampton; great-grandchildren, Ariel Solomon, Savanna Behan, Phil Behan, Chase Johnston, Caleb Johnston, Cameron Bergeron, Crystal Bergeron, Caroline Bergeron, Cassidy Bergeron, Colton Bergeron, Addison Abraham, Kenzi Abraham, Anja Abraham, Hudson Abraham, Tucker Abraham, Kayla Abraham and Natalie Abraham; great-great grandson, Paxton Solomon; brother, Turk Hayes; sisters, Joyce Miller, Shirley Austin and Carol Brown; sister-in-law, Francis Davis; and brother-in-law, Johnny Hampton and wife Ann.
Pall bearers will be Dean Abraham, Jonathan Rhoads, Danny Abraham, Chad Abraham, Brad Abraham and Christopher Hampton.
