Madison Upp threw out the first pitch during Saturday’s baseball game as part of Military Appreciation Day at Northwestern State University. Madison is the daughter of Melissa Upp and Master Sergeant Christopher Upp, the newest member of NSU’s ROTC program faculty who joins NSU as senior military instructor. He is an infantryman with over 17 years of service in the Army having been deployed for 72 months in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a combat veteran, he earned the Silver Star the nation’s third highest personal decoration for Valor in Combat, and the Purple Heart.
