A Graveside service celebrating the life of Lena Maye Wilkins Lilley were at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bentley with the Rev. Kenneth Murrell officiating, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
Lena Maye Wilkins Lilley, 84, of Natchitoches went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.
Lena Maye Wilkins Lilley was born March 5, 1934, and was a lifelong resident of Louisiana.
On April 17, she joined her husband, Waple Lilley; parents, Huey and Nannie Burt Wilkins; siblings, Andraline Messina, Ruby Jo Thomas, Buck Wilkins and Gerald Wilkins; as well as her in-laws, William and Ruth Lilley, Roland Lilley and Nolan Lilley, in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Lilley Gray and husband Jerry; son, W. Alan “Al” Lilley and wife Lisa. Len was blessed with five grandchildren, Jeffrey (wife Ashley), John (wife Kayla), Dylan, Zachary and Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Skylen, Daxton and Ryker; as well as her brother-in-law, Gene Lilley; sisters-in-law, Estelle Wilkins, Loretta Lilley, Micky Lilley and Judy Lilley; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
To know Len was to love her. Her greatest joy on this earth was being a wife to Waple and a mother to her children. Mrs. Lilley attended Westside Baptist Church in Natchitoches. Lena also sang in choir at Trinity Baptist for many years. She committed herself to Jesus Christ at a young age and faithfully served him all of her life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motor home after retirement and made many friends along the way. Len loved flowers and ferns, gardening and crafts, but her life was focused on serving her Lord and family. It was always known that if Lena said it, it was the Truth! She will be deeply missed but never forgotten by the many who knew and loved her.
