Joseph J. Llorance, b/m, 35, was sentenced to five years by Judge Desiree Dyess on the charge of negligent homicide. He was booked into the NPDC May 30.
The conviction stems from a shootout on Texas Street just after 12 a.m. Christmas morning 2013. The victim was Labryant Franklin, 20, of Creston.
The original report, published Dec. 28, 2013 in the Natchitoches Times stated officers believed Llorance was sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot when the shooting started. He was approached by a cousin who said the victim was allegedly trying to kill him.
Llorence got out of the car and began returning fire with an SKS assault rifle.
