The Campti Field of Dreams GROW GREEN $$$ is a summer youth Agripreneurship Program for ages 10-15 that combines sustainable agriculture with entrepreneurship. Participants will learn the basics to start their own vegetable garden, how to turn it into a business and apply science to life. The two week program supply fee is $20. Class size is limited to 12 participants. Register by email to donna@camptifieldofdreams.org, or submit your application at the Natchitoches Parish Library Northeast Branch in Campti.

The summer program will be weekdays, through Friday, June 22, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.  The program is designed to introduce youth to the opportunities and assistance available to start an agricultural based business in the backyard.

The program hosted by Campti Field of Dreams in partnership with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service is co-instructed by Donna Isaacs and Waylon Breaux, LSUAg Master Gardeners and Kristie Chance Davis, a visiting teacher from Georgia. Special guest speakers including Connie Jones from the Northwestern State University Hospitality Management and Tourism will discuss the origins of Louisiana cuisine and teach participants how to make our world famous Natchitoches meat pies. Participants must bring lunch and snacks if they have special dietary requirements.

The program will provide lunch and water. Closed-toed shoes (no flip flops, sandals or crocs) and gloves are required. Dress comfortably! Morning outdoor classroom activities begin at Tallowah Farm, a 25-acre sustainable agriculture demonstration farm, followed by an entrepreneurship lunch and learn at the Campti Historic Museum and afternoon guest lectures at the Northeast branch of the Natchitoches Parish Library.
