At midnight on the morning of Sunday, June 17, NPD patrol shift B and ASP team officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Second Street.
Officers performed a search of the vehicle and subsequently located a firearm. It was determined that the driver, Devon Johnson, b/m, 24, had prior convictions for the offenses of robbery through Smith County, Texas, and simple burglary in Natchitoches Parish.
Johnson was placed under arrest for Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, disobeying traffic signals and failure to yield to emergency vehicle. Johnson was placed in Natchitoches Parish Detention Center with a return 10th Judicial District Court date of Aug. 2.
