NATCHITOCHES, LA.
Rex Sutton Britt lost his valiant battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. A devoted husband, father, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many, Rex leaves behind a legacy of good deeds and friendships that will be cherished for years to come. He was the type of man who made those around him smile. He was remembered fondly for helping others in need yet expected nothing in return. His kindness and generosity were only overshadowed by his wonderful personality, a trait that everyone admired.
Rex was born on May 25, 1949 in Neosho, Mo., to Charles and Mary Britt.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dawn Cheryl McBride Britt and a daughter, Sherrill Nadine Britt, Sandy Springs, Ga. Those closest to him were his siblings and in-laws. Rex cherished his immediate family including Chuck Britt, Leslie Sepulvado, Meredith Garlington, wife of Dwayne, Cathy Britt and Matt Britt.
His brother-in-law, Ron McBride, regarded Rex as his brother since he only had sisters in the McBride family. Rex cherished his nieces and nephews. His nieces include Kathryn Acklin, Sarah Britt, Rachel Britt, Stephanie McBride Henson, and Melanie McBride. His nephews are Adam Sepulvado, Lance Acklin, and Joe Britt.
Rex had a successful career before retiring. He worked with Sherwood Mobile Homes as comptroller, Valley Farmers Co-op in sales, and NFIB (National Federation of Independent Businesses) in membership sales. After retirement and most recently he worked as a substitute teacher in area schools. His students spoke fondly of Rex because of his genuine and warm personality.
Dawn Britt and the family would like to personally thank neighbors and friends who graciously provided food, supplies, kind thoughts and around-the-clock love and support during Rex’s illness and death. She would also like to thank the team from Hospice of Natchitoches and Many for aiding her and the family throughout his illness.
A memorial service honoring the life of Rex Britt is Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church.
