A Saline man suffered non-life threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash on La. Hwy 9 north of Campti Thursday morning around 6:44 a.m. Patrol deputies, La. State Police, Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #9 and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to the 911 reports.

Life-Air was placed on stand-by.

Deputies say motorists stopped before emergency units arrived and removed the occupant from the wreckage. According to LSP, Kelby Cheatwood, 22, of Saline was operating a 1999 Toyota pickup truck traveling southbound on La. Hwy 9 when he apparently fell asleep. The vehicle left the roadway on the right side, struck a culvert then began to overturn before striking a fence and coming to rest.

Cheatwood was transported by EMS to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies say Cheatwood was traveling to work at the time of the crash. Any additional information is to be released by LSP Troop-E Alexandria.
