MURRAY, UTAH
Nov. 18, 1931-July 4, 2018
Ottie Lee Bates Frech passed away July 4, 2018, at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, at the age of 86. Ottie, also known as Nan, was born in Ashland Nov. 18, 1931, to Issac and Philippine Bates, the oldest of two children.
Ottie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Harry Frech; brother, Fred “Bud” Bates; and parents, Issac and Philippine.
Ottie graduated St. Mary’s High School in 1950 in Natchitoches.
She met serviceman Jim Frech while he was stationed at Fort Polk. They married in 1952 and were sealed in the Dallas Temple May 3, 1986. Ottie and Jim had two sons, Gary in 1953 and Victor in 1958. In 1969 the family moved to Cortez, Colo., but in 1985 her southern roots drew her back home and she and Jim moved back to Natchitoches. She lovingly cared for Jim for 20 years after his stroke and was dedicated to him until his passing.
Ottie is survived by son, Gary and wife Vicki Frech of Herriman, Utah, and grandsons, David Frech, Jeremy Olson and Nathan Olson; son, Victor Frech of Murray, Utah, and grandchildren, Parker Frech, Taylor Frech and Haylee Frech; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
Ottie was very active in her church and loved to serve. Her primary focus was spending time with her growing family. She also loved to garden and kept an immaculate yard and vegetable garden.
One word to describe our Mother would be “Sweet.” She had a welcoming smile and an irresistible laugh. She was a great example to everyone in which she came into contact. She loved her family and the Lord.
A viewing will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home Friday, July 13 from 8-10:15 a.m. and a graveside service at Fern Park Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
