Our Daddy, Our Super Hero
Aljay Cox Sr. entered into new life with our Lord and Savior July 8, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
He was united in marriage to Mary Lee June 13, 1954. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage before her transitioning in January 2016. Between this union, there are seven children: Marilyn, Vivian, Vernon, Sandra, Aljay Jr., Elivia and LaShawn and mom’s nephew, Jerome Gross, that grew up with the family as well.
He was a devoted husband, provider for his family, servant of God and a good Samaritan in the community. All that knew him was blessed to have him in their life as a father figure, mentor and friend.
He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Johnnie Gibson and Grace Taylor; sons, Vernon Leon Cox and Aljay Cox Jr. (Mary); daughters, Marilyn Ann Cox-Thompson, Vivian Cox-Kahey, Sandra Cox-White, Elivia Hardison (Michael) and LaShawn-Cox Jefferson (Donnell); grandchildren, Titus Thompson, Maurice Thompson, Quinten White, Alvin White Jr. (Sara), Jessica White, Richard Cox, Aljay Cox III, Atiner Stills, Lydia Sowell (Earley Holmes III), Kendrick Cox, Daisha Cox and NaiEmah Wiley; and a hosts of great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Aljay was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bessie Cox; brothers, Alfonse Cox and LC Cox; sister, Daisy Mitchell; wife, Mary Lee Cox; and grandsons, Quinten White and Devonte Hardison.
Celebration of Life services will be at Agape Love Center, 1515 Texas St., Natchitoches, Saturday, July 14. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. prior to services at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Breda Town Cemetery, Natchitoches.
