The Natchitoches Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is a sponsor of the 39th Annual Natchitoches Folk Festival July 20-21 in air-conditioned Prather Coliseum on the NSU campus. The Folk Festival will commence at 4:30 p.m. and last until 10:15 p.m. Friday, July 20. On Saturday, July 21, festivities begin at 8 a.m. and last until 10 p.m.
Tickets are $13 for a two-day pass (available only in advance), $10 at the door for all Saturday events, or $6 for a one-time evening pass to all events after 5 p.m.
Children 12 and under are admitted free and the festival is wheelchair accessible. Events include Cajun dance lessons, three stages of live music, folk stories and artworks, craft and food vendors, outdoor activities such as blacksmithing and black-pot cooking. The Louisiana State Fiddle Championship will be July 21 at 1 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall.
