Walmart hosts grand opening party for pickup services

Walmart associates celebrated the opening of pickup services Thursday, June 19.

Walmart on Keyser Avenue hosted it’s grand opening party Thursday, July 19 for the new pickup services. Near the front of the store, there were hamburgers and hot dogs, music and a bounce house for children, provided by Rhodes Properties.

Besides ordering general merchandise from for pickup, customers can now order grocery items and have them delivered once parked in reserved lots on the side of the store. Personal shoppers will choose items for customers off the shelf.

Store manager Carla Mercier said this is the next generation for retail. Mercier said if customers don’t want to go out in harsh weather conditions, an associate will now bring your items to you after ordering online and parking in the designated lots. E-commerce manager Keith Dominque is also very enthusiastic about offering these services.

Order at Orders must exceed $30.
