Early morning fire in Campti claims child’s life

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Deputies are assisting Natchitoches Parish Fire District #9 and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office with an early morning fire in the 100 block of Carter Street in Campti which claimed the life of what is believed to be a 10-year-old year child according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Office.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by the Fire Marshal’s Office with assistance from Fire District 9 and the NPSO.

Investigators remained on scene throughout the night photographing and processing the scene looking for clues into the cause of the fire.

Additional information will be released as if becomes available.

The name of the child is currently being withheld.

This marks the fourth fire fatality in Natchitoches Parish within the past 10 days. Please install smoke alarms in your homes or mobile home as a safety measure against fires.
