Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education will host the following non-credit courses:
A Pick Up Your Brush painting course will be offered two Thursdays in August. Dates and subjects are 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 (succulent) and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 (abstract angel). Sessions are $45 each. Classes will take place at the second floor of South Hall with Shanna Dees Gaspard as instructor. In these classes, participants will learn the art of painting using step-by-step instructions to create a masterpiece. No special or prior skills are required. Students will take home a completed painting at the end of every class. Children ages 7 – 12 years old are allowed to enroll, but a parent must accompany the child the entire class. The parent does not have to enroll unless they participate. Each date is a separate session. All supplies included.
A water aerobics course will be Aug. 1-16 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon – 1 p.m. at the Robert W. Wilson Recreation Complex. The fee is $22.50 and the instructor is Nikki Waters. This workout consists of simple low impact exercises executed in the water. The program is designed to promote and maintain cardiorespiratory fitness, strengthen muscles, and improve flexibility. This program is especially recommended for arthritic and/or pregnant women.
