A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald L. Young, Esq., will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle with the Rev. Charlie Ray serving as celebrant. Entombment in the St. Augustine Catholic Mausoleum will follow the Mass. The family will receive friends from 6-10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches.

Donald, 79, and a resident of Pearland, Texas, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, in Pearland. He was born Wednesday, May 3, 1939, to Ray Edwin Young and Hazel Jewell Young in Borger, Texas.

Donald earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., then earned a law degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston. He proudly served in the United States Army as a paratrooper.  He was a Shriner and a Kentucky Colonel, which is the highest title of honor bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky. It is recognition of an individual’s noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to their community, state and nation.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Jeanette Beaudoin Young; nine children; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; one brother; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
