William “Billy” Nelson passed away Aug. 18, 2018, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 63. He was born June 3, 1955, in Vicksburg, Miss., to William “Sarge” Nelson and Mary Ruth Smith.
Billy was the Plant Manager for Pilgrims Pride and was a member of Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Roesler Nelson; son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Amanda Nelson; son and daughter-in-law, Arron and DeeAnn Roesler; daughter, Meghan Hightower; 10 grandchildren; brother, Mac McDaniel; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Steve Griffin; sister and brother-in-law, Karla and Flynn Bankard; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Tony Cochran; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, William “Sarge” Nelson; biological mother, Mary Ruth Smith; and mother, Evelyn Nelson.
A visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant.
A funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. at Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, with burial to follow at Macon Cemetery.
