The NSU volunteer organization, 1 of 7, and other members of the community joined Friday, Aug. 24 at the American Cemetery to clean the grounds, clip overgrown branches and scrub tombstones. The annual clean-up campaign is dedicated to giving back to the community and organized by the Natchitoches Historic Foundation (NHF). NHF President Cathy Seymour said it was such a blessing to have so many hands helping. “We want our cemetery to look it’s best not only for the families of those buried here, but for our upcoming cemetery tour in October,” she said. Members of 1 of 7 choose one day out of the week for volunteer work. Other service projects include helping at historic sites and volunteering at numerous food pantries.
