Former Natchitoches Parish resident, Helen Kilgore Smith, has released her first book, “Simply Faith,” published by Holy Fire Publishing.
Smith will host a meet-and-greet Friday, Sept. 28 from 1-2 p.m. at the Hampton Inn conference room in Natchitoches for the general public.
“Simply Faith,” a non-fiction, biography and inspirational book based on her family’s journey, tells a heartwarming story about her son Landon’s kidney disease. Landon was diagnosed with kidney disease at the age of three and has received two kidney transplants. Smith shares what brought her and her family through some of the most trying times, with her and husband/father Terry remaining at Landon’s side throughout these obstacles.
Smith was born in Natchitoches and grew up Marthaville, where she and her family lived, worked and attended church and school before moving to East Texas in 2007.
She is a substitute teacher for grades pre-K – 12th grade for two East Texas schools and is a certified administrator in peritoneal and home hemodialysis. She is an advocate for the National Kidney Foundation, Donate Life and the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
When not substituting or writing, she spends time with family and friends, goes on nature walks, bakes and does scrapbooking.
Simply Faith” is available online at Amazon, Barns and Noble, Books-A-Million and other online bookstores.
