The NCHS swim season kicked off in Shreveport at the North Louisiana High School Meet hosted by Centenary College at their Fitness Center Natatorium on Kings Highway.
The Chief returning swimmers are DJ Anderson, Alyssa Broadway, Trey McDowell, Cooper Miller (LSMSA), Alex Moran, Tyler Nichols, Dane Steadman and Ben Walker (LSMSA). First year freshmen competing and establishing competition times were Hunter Broadway, Sydney Masson, and Jack Nicholson. First year swimmers for NCHS are junior Sara Mixon (LSMSA) and seniors Myles Fabre (LSMSA) and Rebekah Rodriguez (homeschool).
Dropping time at this meet were:
DJ Anderson – 1.07 sec in 50 Free
Alyssa Broadway – 1.11 secs in 50 Free, 0.79 secs in 100 Free; and 1.88 secs in 100 Back
Trey McDowell – 0.53 secs in 50 Free; 1.12 secs in 100 Back
Cooper Miller – 0.34 secs in 50 Free; 1.48 secs in 100 Free; 1.54 sec in 100 Breast
Alex Moran – 0.15 sec in 200 Free; 1 sec in 100 Free
Tyler Nichols – 0.06 secs in 50 Free; 4.96 secs in 100 Free
Dane Steadman – 6.71 secs in 200 Free; 9.57 secs in 100 Breast
Ben Walker – 2.36 secs in 50 Free; 1.56 secs in 100 Breast
The only points scored at this meet came from the Men’s 400 Free Relay (Anderson, Moran, Steadman, Miller) who placed third and earned eight points for the team.
Any NCHS student interested in the swim team can talk to Coach Fernando Gonzalez at the City of Natchitoches Swimming Pool on Amulet every Monday through Thursday at 5 p.m. where the team practices.
