Alice Coleman Mitchell, 92, of Alexandria died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at Rapides Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Antonia, in Grant Parish, the daughter of Joseph (Joe) H. and Ida (Foster) Coleman.

Alice was retired from Northwestern State University, School of Nursing in Natchitoches after 25 years of service. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Natchitoches and a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, including the W.M.U. Esther Bible Study Group, in Alexandria.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clarence Leo Mitchell and a sister, Delores Coleman Pinckard.

Surviving are her two sons, Earl Jay (Mary) Baker of Tallahassee, Fla., and William Mark (Jodi) Mitchell of Rockville, Md.; two grandchildren, Mackenzie Mitchell and Will Mitchell of Pasadena, Md.; and three nieces. Additionally, numerous other friends and relatives survive her that provided a loving support network that ensured she was always loved and cared for on so many levels.

Friends will be received at the church on Friday, Sept. 28 from noon until time of memorial service at 1 p.m. in The Bolton Chapel of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Alexandria. A private burial ceremony will take place on a later date at Big Creek Cemetery, Pollock, at the discretion of the family.
