What a week last week was, especially for the local schoolchildren! Third grade students visited several historic locations for the 22nd APHN Children’s Tour Sept.24-28. They visited the Lemee House, Prudhomme-Roquier House, Beau Jardin and Roque House, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, the Minor Basilica of Immaculate Conception Church, Trinity Episcopal Church and First United Methodist Church. Children learned about these areas from local eighth graders who told stories of the buildings and those who lived there, some even dressed as the characters they spoke about. Even more children came to the Natchitoches Parish Fair and Rodeo Thursday, Sept. 27. According to their Facebook page, approximately 300 children from local schools rode rides and visited the livestock that were there for competitions.
