Mayor Lee Posey announces that rehabilitation has begun on the portion of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Amulet and Texas Streets.
This work, consisting of cold-planing, base reconstruction and asphalt overlay, is part of the 2017-18 Phase 2 Street Rehabilitation Program. Contract was awarded to Regional Construction, LLC, in August. During the cold-planing and asphalt overlay phases of the work, two-way, one-lane traffic will be maintained.
However, during the base reconstruction phase of the work, two-block segments of MLK Drive will be closed to through traffic. During these times, motorists will detour around the work site utilizing alternate routes.
