Drei Bones trombone trio will perform at NSU Oct. 8

NATCHITOCHES – The Drei Bones trombone trio will perform at Northwestern State University on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

 

Drei Bones debuted in 2015 and has since has been featured at the American Trombone Workshop, the Big Twelve Trombone Conference, the Mid-West Trombone Euphonium Conference and most recently at the 2018 International Trombone Festival in Iowa City, Iowa.

 

Drei Bones has commissioned, recorded and premiered multiple new works for trombone trio.  Members include Dr. Michael Davidson (University of Kansas) and Dr. Timothy Howe (University of Missouri) on tenor trombones and NSU professor Dr. J. Mark Thompson on bass trombone.  Their program, entitled, “Tantalizing Trombone Trios,” includes several works composed through commission for Drei Bones.

 

The program will be “Trois à Troyes” by Marc Lys, “Tango” from “Three Dances for Three Trombones” by PJ Kelley, “Children’s Suite: Lullabies and Playtime with Josie” by Thomas Davis, “Resounding Music” by Paul Seitz, “Of Hammered Gold” by James Mobberly, “Trombone Trio No. 1” by Thomas Davis and “Trialogue” by John Cheetham.
