Oct. 13, 2018

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Gloria Carter was at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at Jonesboro Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Carter, 82, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, with her family by her side.

She was a beautician for many years and loved her clients dearly.  She loved her dogs and enjoyed making Christmas ceramics. It has been said that “she could lay a line with a .22!”  She was a very proud military wife. Mrs. Gloria was completely loved and was devoted to her husband, Mr. Charles.  She knew that she wanted to be with him from the first time she saw him in his mother’s house when she was 18 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Charles Carter; her parents, Elija Robert Sayes and Maudie Mae Sayes; brother, Elbert Sayes; and niece, Damone Winters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Vicki Faith (Donnie), Sandy Harrell (Larry), Alan Carter, Jim Whitten, Damon Carter, and Celeste Whitten; several great-nieces and nephews; and a very special friend and neighbor, Lester LaCaze.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Courtyard of Natchitoches as well as Hospice of Natchitoches.
