Witch Way to Main Street: Trick-or-Treating and Costume Contest fun Halloween evening

Get your Halloween on!  Do a trial run to get ready for the big night by dressing in your costume and dress your pets to enter the costume contest.

The City of Natchitoches and Natchitoches Main Street Program will sponsor Witch Way to Main Street, a safe and free trick-or-treating event, on the Rue Beauport Riverfront Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m.

Witch Way to Main Street will allow children age 12 and younger to trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses and sponsored booths. Children must be in costume and accompanied by an adult.

Candy and prizes will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Natchitoches police officers will be on duty to ensure children’s safety. Area businesses and organizations are encouraged to sponsor booths and games. Booths may feature interactive games, activities and/or candy distribution. Sign-up forms may be picked up at the Natchitoches Main Street Office, 781 Front St., or online at www.natchitochesla.gov.

The deadline to sign up for a booth space is Wednesday, Oct. 24.

In addition, The Natchitoches Times and Main Street are partnering to bring a costume contest to Witch Way to Main Street.

Entry open to ages 0-16 with a separate division for pets.

Prizes will be awarded to winners in the following categories:

•Most creative/funny •Cutest •Scariest •Most creative pet costume

Submissions will be accepted at jgray@natchitochestimes.com or lifestyleeditor@natchitochestimes.com until Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Include photo, costume theme, name and contact information. All submissions will publish in the Oct. 27-28 edition. Top five in each category will be posted to the Natchitoches Times Facebook page. Likes on that official page will count as votes. Votes on shared pages will not count. Most likes in each category wins a prize basket.

Local businesses are contributing to the prize baskets (see photos). Winners will be announced at Witch Way to Main Street Oct. 31.
