The Northwestern State University Jazz Orchestra will present a concert on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. Associate Professor of Trumpet Galindo Rodriguez conducts the Jazz Orchestra.
Special guest for the concert will be adjunct professor of guitar Luke Brouillette.
Brouillette joined Northwestern State’s faculty in 1994. He holds a Diploma of Professional Music from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Brouillette works as a professional musician in popular and jazz music. He performs live and in recording studios as a guitarist, singer, songwriter, bandleader and sideman. Brouillette has performed with the NSU Jazz Orchestra, the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra and other university ensembles as well as part of theatre productions. He leads the jazz group The Trio and performs a jazz duo with Andrew Powers.

The program will include “Sandu” by Clifford Brown and arranged by Chris Sharp featuring Lane Clevenger on trumpet and Adam Normand on tenor saxophone “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder and arranged by Dave Wolpe featuring Alex Guillory on alto saxophone and Andrew Boyd on vibraphone, “Feels So Good” by Chuck Mangione and arranged by Jeff Tkazyik and featuring Sebastian Alfaro Fontavo on flugelhorn, Stephan Garrett on alto saxophone, Kenyon Johnson on tenor saxophone, Jordan Davis on baritone saxophone, Boyd and Romulo Osorio Herrera on piano and “Coconut Champagne” by Daniel Di Blasio and arranged by Bob Lowden featuring Boyd, Sadoc S. Calderon on trumpet and Davis.
The Jazz Orchestra will also play “Mr. Magic” by Grover Washington Jr. with Abigial How on vocal, Rodriguez on flugelhorn and Brouillette on guitar, “dear Sister” by James Armstrong featuring Guillory, “Taljre” by Armstrong and “Three and One” by Thad Jones featuring Boyd, Guillory and Jones.
